Knowledge Item: CA-Client-Patient
Characteristics-12
Models of the Characteristics of Clients in Medical and Psychosocial
Programs
This Knowledge Item characterizes the
sample in terms of 15 indicators of service need and vulnerability. A
model is shown relating patterns of these needs and vulnerabilities to
whether the client has been recruited into a medical or psychosocial
support program.
On average,
males in the medical programs have 5.70 service needs-vulnerabilities
while females have 5.92. On average, males in the psychosocial programs
have 8.93 service needs-vulnerabilities while females have 7.95. The
Psychosocial Programs tend to recruit individuals with more multiple
needs, or to assess all individually more fully, to discover these
issues.
Overall, the
Psychosocial Support Programs tend to be an entry point into the service
system for clients (patients) who are identified as the most disenfranchised and
consequently potentially have the most severe service needs.
