Demographics and Behaviors of Pregnant Women

As of June 15, 1999, 131 women who were known to be pregnant at enrollment had been admitted to the projects. The group of women was diverse in their backgrounds, behaviors and resources. In general, this was a very high need group of women with HIV who were admitted to special, enriched programs.

Pregnant women served in these models have a high degree of need.

Note: The 131 women were pregnant at the time of enrollment into the program. Twenty additional women (for a total of 151 pregnant women served) became pregnant during the course of their service episode or had their pregnancy detected within the program.

The percentages shown are for a sample of 2225 women enrolled to services in the Cooperative Agreement Projects.
