Rated Effectiveness of Training

In a cross-cutting telephone study of 218 service providers who were interviewed an average of eight months after HIV/AIDS training, trainees were very favorable about their experience and its impact on their provider practice.

Most trainees recommended the HIV/AIDS training experience to at least one other person, and over half indicated that they had recommended it to several others. The training was rated as either "very valuable" or "extremely valuable" by nearly three-quarters of the trainees. These ratings were independent of time since the training.

The training effectiveness ratings were uniformly positive and relatively high for all content areas covered by the interview items. The most positive change was associated with how trainees provide services to patients/clients, whereas the least most positive change was associated with how trainees make referrals to their patients/clients. Overall, the training experiences were perceived very positively and rated as very effective.
