Knowledge Item: CA-Quality of Life and Health-01
Distribution of Major Indicators for Men and Women

In a study of 2038 patients with HIV/AIDS at 13 of the Cooperative Agreement Projects (1371 of whom were assessed within 90 days of program enrollment), participants had a broad range of scores on a standardized measure of eight aspects of quality of life, including Physical Functioning, Energy, Role Functioning, Social Functioning, Cognitive Functioning, Lack of Pain, Emotional Well Being, and Current Health Perceptions. The instrument also includes a Categorical Health Rating. Participants are admitted to services at many different stages of functioning.

The overall participant population from these projects is heterogeneous in terms of self-rated quality of life and outcomes from these treatment models need to be understood within such a context.

Total Quality of Life scores range from 0 (lowest) to 900 (highest).
