Association-Los Angeles to provide capitated end-stage care for persons with HIV/AIDS

geared specifically towards private OB/GYN practices that need to integrate HIV testing
and counseling into their standard prenatal care. This template is available for other
organizations who do HIV/AIDS training for health care providers in their community.

Prevention Campaign
The Maternal and Pediatric Services of Brooklyn has initiated a media campaign called
"Women Need to Know", which consists of bus shelter ads, radio public service
announcements, television spots, and newspaper articles. The following are examples of
media coverage that can be utilized by other projects if they are interested in launching
their own campaigns.
The Brooklyn Service Model: Prevention of HIV
Transmission to the Neonate and Treatment for the Mother
The Brooklyn Service Model seeks to reduce the rate of mother-to-child transmission of HIV
by developing a nationally replicable model for identifying and treating HIV infected
pregnant women and to ensure that HIV infected women receive appropriate care,
irrespective of reproductive status.

The following article is one man's perspective on living with HIV and how the advent of
protease inhibitors and combination therapies has changed the course of HIV/AIDS
treatment. The article was written by Ron Henderson, the Director and Lead Trainer of the
Training and Resource Center at Health Initiatives for Youth (HIFY), a San Francisco
agency dedicated to improving the well-being of young people.
